We’ve updated our entry on Trade and Globalization

Over the last couple of months we have been expanding and updating our entry on international trade and globalization. The new version is here: OurWorldInData.org/trade-and-globalization

We have included many new charts and datasets. And we now provide a more comprehensive overview of recent academic research on this topic: Does trade cause economic growth? What is the impact of globalization on jobs and prices? How did trade change over the last decades and centuries?

One of the key additions in the entry are new charts exploring long-run trade estimates across countries and world regions. Here is an example: merchandise export-to-GDP ratios from 1827 up until 2014.

You find many more charts and analysis directly in our entry here.
