The discrepancy between the reported and revised numbers of global smallpox cases, World, 1959 to 1966

The World Health Assembly revised the global number of smallpox cases upwards in 1987. The original source documenting this revision is unpublished but recent
studies suggest that the revised numbers were still significantly too low.
